Day 1 of 12

Sterling silver leverback clasp earrings with painted wood ovals and sterling silver beads wrapped with sterling silver wire.

Leave a comment on this post by 11:59 tonight and these could be yours ... an $18 value, free, as a Magic Beans gift from me. (If you post anonymously, please include your first name or nickname with your comment.)

For the sake of having something to comment, what is the best book that you read in 2010?

The winner will be drawn tomorrow morning and identified as a note at the bottom of this post, so please check back.

Good luck!

::UPDATE::
The winner of these earrings is SANDI! (Even though she still owes us what her favorite book was for this year.) Please send me your snail mail address via e-mail and I'll get these on their way to you. Although Sandi is excluded from future drawings, the rest of you have another 11 chances to win!

Choosing a favorite book is always difficult for me. So is remembering how recently I've read something. But I started using Goodreads.com summer before last to help a teacher friend so I looked at my list there. Would you believe I never read To Kill a Mockingbird before 2010? I've seen the movie, of course. But tons of people rave about that book. I also read Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston this year. Some people will struggle with the dialect I think, but it's worth the effort. Trust me. Have I ever lied to you?

I have read a couple of really good books this year. So narrowing it to one will be hard. Just a note, I read To Kill A Mockingbird every year. It is my all time favorite book. But, a new book I read this year and enjoyed was N.C. Wyeth A Biography. I happened to pick it up in Maine. Great book.

This is bad, I haven't really read for myself just my for my daughter the daily read. I have read The Shutter Sisters photography book and The Pioneer Womans cookbook and I am awaiting Two Kisses for Maddy by Matt coming out in the beginning of the year.

I also didn't read To Kill a Mockingbird until this year- how I graduated high school without it I'll never understand. My other favorite book this year is The Help. It was hard to put down.
